Feel free to use your own colors for this. Also feel free to make your own vectors. Make them any way you want. This is just how I make them and you can do them your way.  

 

For this tutorial you will need Jasc PSP

For those that don't want to get the camouflage I have made a camouflage tile.

Right click on the tile below and save to your hard drive.

 You can get the hair and the face here.

You will need my selections here.

Right click on color chart or choose your own colors.

1. Open transparent image 400X760.

2. Add new raster layer. Open selection 01 boot soles flood fill with color #1. Click on the lock in the layer palette to lock the transparence. Apply cutout. vertical and horizontal 0, opacity 100, blur 10, color black.

3. Add new raster layer. Open selection 02 boots flood fill with color #2. Do the same as step 1 but change blur to 25 and color to #4.

4. Add new raster layer. Open selection 03 boot laces. Flood fill with color #1.

Merge visible these layers.

5. Add new raster layer. Open selection 04 right leg. Flood fill with smcamo tile or flood fill with any color and apply camouflage filter. Lock transparency and apply cutout, vertical and horizontal 0, opacity 100, blur 40, color #4.  Do the same for selection 05 left leg.

6. Add new raster layer. Open selection 06 helmet. Flood file with camo tile. Apply same cutout.

7. Add new raster layer. Open selection 07 helmet liner. Apply cutout change blur to 20, use a darker brown for the color.

8. Add new raster layer. Open selection 08 neck. Flood fill with color 3 apply cutout change blur to 50.

9. Add new raster layer. Open selection 09 tee shirt. Flood file with color 2, apply same cutout.

10.Add new raster layer. Open selection 10 right shirt. Flood fill with smcamo tile or flood fill with any color and apply camouflage filter. Lock transparency and apply cutout, vertical and horizontal 0, opacity 100, blur 20, color #4.  Do the same for selection 11 left shirt.

11. Do the same as above for selection 12 and 13 collars. Change blur to 10.

12. Add new raster layer. Open selection 14 bottom pocket. Flood fill with camo tile. Apply drop shadow, vertical and horizontal 0, opacity 100, blur 2.5. Duplicate layer and mirror image. line it up on left side. Do the same for selection 15 top pocket.

13. Add new raster layer. Open selection 16 name tag. Flood fill with color #2. Duplicate layer and mirror image. Line it up on left side. You can add a name to it if you want. I used font size 6.

14.Add new raster layer. Open selection 17 right arm. Flood fill with smcamo tile or flood fill with any color and apply camouflage filter. Lock transparency and apply cutout, vertical and horizontal 0, opacity 100, blur 20, color #4. Do the same for selection 18 left arm.

15. Add new raster layer. Open selection 19 gun. Flood fill with black and apply the round inner bevel setting.

16. Add new raster layer. Open selection 20 left hand. Flood file with color #3. Apply cutout same setting but change blur to 15. Use the draw tool blzier curve set at size 1 to draw some fingers. Then apply glaussian blur 1 or 2. Do the same for selection 21 right hand.

17. Add new layer. Open selection 22 head. Flood fill with color #3. Apply same cutout change blur to 40. You can now put the face supplied or draw your own face for him. If you use face supplied.  Open face selection,  copy/paste face tube into selection.

18. Apply hair tube same way.

19. Add new layer. Open selection 24 chin strap. Flood fill with color #2 apply cutout change blur to 10.

20. Do the same for selection 25 helmet strap.

21. Click on helmet liner layer. (should be layer 5 incase you didn't  name it) Add new layer load selection 07 helmet liner. Apply drop shadow, vertical and horizontal 0, opacity 100, blur 15. Now load selection 06 helmet on same layer invert and hit delete.

All that is left is your personal touches. This is where I go back to some layers to add a drop shadow. I click on the layer I want the shadow on and them add new layer and load the selection. I like to put the drop shadow on its own layer so I can erase parts of it.
