Gardening Angel

Another Angel for Opal.

Feel free to use your own colors for this.

As always with my tutorials the finished graphic is yours.

Feel free to do your own vectoring to. It is all very simple shapes.

For this tutorial you will need Jasc PSP 9 . This was written using 9 but it can be done in 8 or 7 with a few adjustments.

You can get the alpha channel canvas here.

Airbrush settings.

Smudge settings.

For each step load alpha channel selections, then flood fill with certain colors. To keep from typing the same thing for each layer I will just type the layer we will be working on. I have the layer turned off so when you click on a layer don't for get to click on the to turn it on.

1. Wings: Flood fill with #aca18b. Go to selections/modify/contract by 2. Invert selection then apply the round inner bevel. Invert selection again then flood fill with #fefdf8. Deselect.  Click on pen tool using settings below. Use color #c2b29b for foreground and set back ground to nil.

Add new vector layer.  Make sure the free hand button is clicked. Draw and design similar to one is screen shot or what ever you choose to do on the left side of wing, do the same for the right side. .

Convert to raster layer and apply same inner bevel preset. merge these 2 layers.

2. Arms and legs: Flood fill with #f0d0c1. Click on the lock in the layer pallet.  Apply cutout using these settings. Vertical and horizontal 0, opacity 100 and blur 4 color #926a45.H

3. Head: Flood fill with same color as above. Lock layer apply cutout change opacity to 84, blur to 18.

4. Shoes: Flood fill with first color on chart. I got the shoes out of order so move it down under the legs. Use 2nd color for the shading as in screen shot. Use color #70451e for inside of shoes. Smudge to blend. I added some poke a dots using #aca18b. Click on ends of legs and soften.

5.Pants: Flood fill with 3rd color on chart. Use 2nd color for shading. Add new vector layer. Use pen tool set foreground color to 2nd on chart, background set to nil. Draw a squiggly design. Convert to raster layer and apply round inner bevel. Below is what I ended up with. Turn off all other layers and merge the pants layer to the squiggly one.

6. Cuffs: Flood fill with #fefdf8. Apply cutout. Vertical and horizontal 0, opacity 100 and blur 3,  color #531114. Use #531114 air brush and spray as in screen shot. smudge to blend.

7. Blouse: Flood fill with 4th color. Use 5th color for shading as in screen shot. I used the 5th color to add some poke a dots.

8. Water Can: Flood fill with 6th color on chart. Click on trim layer and flood fill with black. Go back to the water can layer. Use 5th color for shading as in screen shot. Use white for high light. Smudge to blend. Use free hand selection tool to go around handle as in 2nd screen shot. Then click on the handle to select it then apply round inner bevel. Air brush dots on the round part of the handle to look like holes.

9. Flower Stem: Flood fill with 6th color apply cutout change blur to 8 and color to dark green.

10. Flower Pot: Flood fill with 3rd color on chart. Use 2nd color for shading. Use light pink for high light. Smudge to blend.

11. Flower: I used the flower preset shape #5. You may use what ever you like. I used a pail pink color. Apply cutout and shade.

12. Hands: Flood fill with #f0d0c1. Click on the lock in the layer pallet.  Apply cutout using these settings. Vertical and horizontal 0, opacity 100 and blur 4 color #926a45. Use #f0d0c1 to paint over the wrist area so it doesn't have the cutout on it.

13. Glasses: Flood fill with black apply round inner bevel preset.

14. Hat: Flood fill with Animal Tiger pattern in the materials chart. Apply cutout change blur to 8 and color to black.

15. Band: Flood fill with black. Apply inner bevel round.

16. I used preset shape flower 3 for the hat. You can use what ever you want.

Almost done now. Just have to do the face, hair and some bobbles.

17. Click on the head layer. Add new vector layer. I used black for the nose. Use the pen tool size 1 and make your nose. I used preset shape ellipse  2nd color on chart for the lips.

Add new vector layer. Click on preset shape ellipse. Set back ground to #a52b2d foreground set to nil make a small round ball click apply. Set foreground to same color and background to nil. Use size 1 for the pen tool. Make a small line to ball.  Convert to raster layer. I used Super blade pro to make it look like a ruby. LOL sort of any way. You can get the Ruby preset here

Use pen tool size 2 freehand,  to draw some hair.

You can make a new styled line to use for the necklace. Click on the  line tool, then click on the then click on the custom button at the bottom. Use the settings in the screen shot below. Save as New name it what ever you like.  I named mine sm-necklace. lol  You can use the new line style for the necklace and bracelet. Apply blade pro setting to make it look like gem stones. lol
